Recipe for my sister @gorrga_garrard_art favorite French onion soup below! I linked all of the products (pots, pans, knives, etc in my LTK in my bio too) Ingredients - 10 white onions - 1 full stick of @kerrygoldusa or other high quality butter - 1 tsp sea salt - 2 qts beef broth - 1 cup white wine - 1 cup red wine - 1 sprig of thyme - 1 spring of rosemary - fresh cracked black pepper - 1 tsp sea salt - 1 baguette, the best gluten free ones are against the grain from @wholefoods - 1 block of Gruyère I love the one from @boarshead_official - parsley to garnish Instructions 1. Chop your onions into thin slices 2. Add the butter, onions, and sea salt to a large cast iron or stainless steel pot and cook on super low stirring periodically for 6-8 hours. You want a very deep caramel color. You can do it much quicker if you want to but it will taste better the slower you cook them 3. Turn the heat up to medium and add the white and red wine to deglaze the pan. 4. Stir for a few minutes on medium till most of the alcohol had cooked off. 5. Add the onions to a large stockpot with the beef broth, rosemary, thyme, remaining sea salt, and cracked black pepper. 6. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 min. It should reduce a little to a thicker soup. 7. While it cooks slice your baguette and grate your Gruyère 7. Pour the soup into porcelain bowls or cups about 3/4 full. Top with the baguette slices and cheese. 7. Broil until the cheese is brown and crisp and finish with parsley! This makes enough for four servings #frenchonionsoup #glutenfree #boarshead #cheese
